Dance Triple Bill New Image

Angel Field Festival Dance and Performance Triple Bill

Friday, 15 March 2024 Time: 7.30pm
Overview

Join us for a 45 minute triple bill of dance & performance from the North West’s finest; an evening that balances performance and conversation, where the artists engage with the audience advocating a safe space for lively conversation sharing process, practice and performance. House of Suarez, Liverpool Improvisation Collective and Wendy Houstoun showcase recent and new performance projects:

House of Suarez's opening piece 'in the house of...' includes three company dancers, and celebrates the vogue movement and culture of ballroom. With elements of battle and fixed choreography, the show promises to give an exciting dynamic to the programme with traditional house beats and beautiful house of Suarez vocabulary!

Liverpool Improvisation Collective presents 'First on the Heel', a collaboration with filmmaker Tommy Husband. The film documents an off-the-cuff exploration of various spaces within The Bridewell, a studio / gallery complex built as a police station in 1846. Through dance and fragmented dialogue, the film investigates different possibilities of bodies within spaces, keying in to legacies of play and performance.

Wendy Houstoun presents '2024'. A movement and theatre artist whose work has developed a uniquely distinctive style combining movement with text and meaning with humour, since working with Ludus Dance in 1980, Houstoun has created a substantial body  of solo work confronting the  themes of ageing, death, drinking and the state of England with typical commitment and irreverence. These pieces have run alongside work with influential companies :  DV8 Physical Theatre, Tim Etchells and Forced Entertainment, Vincent  Dance Company, Lumiere and Son Theatre  and artists :  David Hinton, Jonathan Burrows and Matteo Fargion, Nigel Charnock,  Rose English  in  large and small stages, specific sites, film and installation.
